Oooh I am loving this new website which showcases the genius work of Benjamin Reingold; a kind of deconstruct and re-create designer, with a sense of humour and a mean eye for the potential within a garment. This guy is a great fashion label in the making.

The Uniform Project

The Uniform Project began in May 2009, by Sheena Matheiken, who has pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion. There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day she will reinvent the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of adornments, the majority of which will be vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies.

The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for slum children in India.

In her usual unconventional style, Vivienne Westwood has chosen Pamela Anderson to be the star of her new fashion campaign, using herself and her husband as extras. In Pamela’s own words she describes her growing kudos as an artists muse as “Yesterday, I was considered soft porn, but today I am art”. It’s great to see this collaberation between two such unique, strong women.

SANS, a New York Fashion Label has designed a straightforward vest pattern, so that fans of the label can create their own version of one of their designs. The company, which usually makes clothing from organic materials, suggests recycling an old garment or using unwanted fabric to create one a unique, one-off piece.
